According to the latest rumors, Liverpool are looking to bring in yet another Brazilian attacking midfielder to join the likes of Philippe Coutinho, and Roberto Firmino. Rumors have it that Liverpool and Manchester United [insert 6th place joke here] sent scouts to Bordeaux to watch 19-year-old attacker Malcom.
If this is the case, it likely wasn’t the best chance for the young player to showcase his talents, as the hosts fell 3-0 to Paris Saint Germain. And then he came off in the 78th minute with a knock. In fact, now that I think about it, it seems just as likely that the scouts were there to see [insert Big Name™ PSG player] as they were to see Malcom.
Malcom came to Bordeaux from Corinthians last year, and has racked up 4 goals and an assist in 20 appearances in Ligue 1—16 of which have been starts. This season, he has split time between playing on the right wing, and through the middle.
He is apparently under contract with the French club until the summer of 2020, and there’s no word yet to how much it would cost to force a transfer for the young player. However, Malcom is eyeing a move to a Champions League club, because of course he is.
"For me, it's not important which club and which championship I am in,” Malcom said in a recent interview. "I want to play for a big club, in the Champions League, and win it."
I guess that rules out United, then.
