It is widely believed that Emre Can will be leaving Merseyside this summer once his current contract runs out. Negotiations over a new one to keep the German midfielder a Red seem to have reached a stand still. The problem appears to be that Can wants a release clause inserted in his next contract while the club won’t entertain the idea.

Far and away, Can’s most ardent suitor is the Italian club Juventus who made an attempt to get him last summer and have been open in their appreciation. There’s even a pretty good chance that Can will be signing a pre-contract with them in 2018.

Juventus are not alone in their interest, however, as recognized by Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc. When asked about the midfielder, Zorc said, ”An excellent player. He is in the sights of the very, very large clubs of Europe.”

Losing Can will be a hard pill to swallow - especially losing him for free. He’s been one to watch on the team since he arrived back in 2014. At only 23-years-old, the best is likely still to come from Can.

This will continue to be a huge story line over the coming months until Can’s future is finally decided.
