Rumour Mongering: A January Loan for Danny Ings

After successive knee injuries, the striker might attempt to rebuild his fitness on loan, potentially at Newcastle.

Poor Danny Ings. He was supposed to be Dirk Kuyt 2.0—an energetic poacher who had a knack for turning up in the right spots at the right time. Only, you know, not Dutch. Unfortunately his Liverpool

Ings is still working his way back, though apparently still far from the first team picture. The 25-year-old striker has been getting first team minutes with the U23s, but has just one substitute appearance in the ill-fated and short-lived League Cup run.

Apparently Liverpool are now looking for suitors to take the unlucky striker and help him rebuild fitness. The Mirror is reporting Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle are leading the charge, with Crystal Palace, Southampton, and Watford also interested in a loan move for Ings.

Hopefully this is a way forward for the striker, who, barring a significant injury crisis, are unlikely to require his services this campaign. Finding a club that can offer him regular first team football would be the best thing for the player and club.
