Tiago Ilori signed for Liverpool for £7 million from Lisbon in the summer of 2013. Since then, he has had loan spells with Granada, Bordeaux, and Aston Villa, and has yet to make a single Premier League appearance. Indeed, Ilori has just three senior appearances for the Reds.
This season, the Portuguese center back is plying his trade with Liverpool’s U-23s. Perhaps not much can be expected for £7 million these days, but it’s safe to say the 23-year-old has been a flop during his time on the books at Liverpool.
As such, any serious interest should probably be enough to ply the center back away from Merseyside. According to the rumor mongers, Championship side Reading are interested in Ilori to the tune of £2 million. Liverpool, however, are reported to be holding out for £5 million.
Apparently Reading are hoping to sign him before Saturday’s FA Cup showdown with Manchester United. If that’s true, they better get crackin’. Reading currently sit third in the Championship, safely in the play-off spots, but still six points back of Newcastle for automatic promotion.
