Last night we wrote about the reports out of Italy that Lazio is in for Lazar Markovic. Of course, the phrase "reports out of Italy" should be enough to give us transfer rumor connoisseurs pause. To put it mildly, such reports are often baseless, and from journalists with no real ties to Liverpool.
Well, if one "report out of Italy" wasn't enough for you, you're in for a special treat. According to the latest reports out of Italy, Liverpool could be lining up a £15 million move for Ajax's winger Anwar El Ghazi, presumably to replace an outgoing Lazar Markovic.
El Ghazi scored 21 goals in 80 appearances over two years for Ajax in the free-scoring Eredivisie, playing predominantly on the right wing. He would also add some height to the squad, coming in at 188 cm (6'2").
Regardless, this link seems a little more click-baity than usual, given the sources, and the amount of things that first need to happen for the transfer to come to fruition. Whether Markovic would even need to be replaced is an open question in and of itself considering the current options across the attacking midfield band and the lack of European football.
Still, it's a thing that's out there. So there's that.
