Piotr Zieliński Reportedly Rejects Napoli Transfer, Wants Liverpool Move

Udinese midfielder Piotr Zieliński has reportedly made it quite clear where he wants to end up this summer.

Piotr Zieliński was believed to be headed to Napoli just a couple of days ago in a player swap deal that would have ultimately set Napoli back between €14 million and €16 million. The five goals and six assists the Polish international racked up in 36 appearances last season was an impressive return during a loan spell at Empoli. Now it seems that a player who apparently had his heart set on a move to Liverpool actually has his heart set on a move to Liverpool.

The 22-year-old may have made a crucial play in securing a move to Liverpool. If Zieliński has rejected a move Napoli, a good Serie A side that can offer Champion League football, negotiations might be easier for Liverpool moving forward. Tancredi Palmeri was cited as the primary source in a report by the Daily Express, but the Italian journalist throws a lot of transfer news out there.

In the middle of last month there were rumours of a deal to Anfield being virtually sealed for a midfielder who praised Philippe Coutinho, posed in a Liverpool shirt, and spoke of his contact with Jürgen Klopp. There's still a chance, it seems, that Zieliński will secure the move he's looking for. There's also the chance that there's nothing in this supposed latest development, and the player is still moving to Napoli.
