Liverpool are interested in adding Roberto Firmino's former favorite attacking partner, according to the Daily Star.
Per a report, the Reds are seeking to bolster their attack this summer by snapping up Hoffenheim forward Kevin Volland, who combined with Firmino for spectacular results last season.
This season, however, Hoffenheim are a bottom-half side that could look to offload its 23-year-old stud, who is under contract until 2019.
Volland scored eight times and notched 10 assists in 32 appearances this season. And the Daily Star reports that he has a release clause of just £14.1 million.
That clause seems absurdly low for a player positioned to break into the German national team picture in the next couple of seasons and capable of producing magic in any given game. But with Borussia Dortmund and Wolfsburg also reportedly in pursuit, it's clear that signing Volland would be a difficult task for Jürgen Klopp.
Perhaps Firmino will convince him to make the jump to Anfield much as Coutinho recruited young Bobby last summer, and Liverpool can add another promising attacking piece to the jigsaw puzzle. After all, Volland demonstrates the potential to become a superb player, and for the lowball fee being tossed around, he seems like a no-brainer signing.
