If rumors from the always reliable Daily Star are to be believed, Liverpool have entered into negotiations with Monaco for the services of U-21 French international Thomas Lemar. The French outfit will be expecting similar compensation to what they received last year from Manchester United for Anthony Martial, £58.8 million.
Lemar, still just 20-years-old, has had a break-out year for Monaco, adding 5 goals and 5 assists in all competitions. He plays mostly in the center attacking midfield role (because we need another #10) but can be utilized anywhere across the attacking midfield band. He has also deputized a couple of times deeper in a central midfielder role. Also, he would give Alberto Moreno some stiff competition for the "Best Left Boot" award, and seems to have a good free kick and set piece delivery on him.
However, both the source of the report and sizable fee makes such a signing seem unlikely for Liverpool this summer. But, if you want to get unreasonably excited, a highlight video is included below:
