Polish International Confirms Contact with Klopp

Someone's getting a little excited about contact from Jürgen Klopp, but then again who wouldn't?

Young Piotr Zielinski is currently plying his trade at Italian club Empoli, on loan from Udinese, and is set to represent Poland on the continental stage at this summer's Euro. As is the case for many young players, a chance to shine in an international tournament is also a chance to impress potential future employers should one hope to move on from one's current employment situation, and rumours that Zielinski has caught the eye of Liverpool were confirmed by the player.

"There is a lot of truth in the interest of Jürgen Klopp in me," Zielinski told Polish outlet Sportowe Fakty. "There was contact, I do not deny that."

Illuminating. Zielinski's confirmation follows on his comments two weeks ago where he stated that there might be more to the rumours of Liverpool's interest than meets the eye. The young midfielder spoke with Polish compatriot and former Klopp student Jakub Błaszczykowski about the manager while the two were on international duty, but beyond Zielinski's chat with Kuba and the probable existence of texts from Klopp on Zielinski's smartphone, nothing is confirmed.

The lack of formal contract negotiations didn't stop Zielinski from daydreaming about a possible future in red, of course. The Pole was happy to share his best ever daydreams when fanning the flames of the transfer rumour a few weeks ago, and they starred none other than Liverpool's little magician.

"I really like Coutinho’s style of play," Zielinski said at the time. "I watch him closely, and it would be great to play alongside him. I’m sure we could be a good duo on the pitch, but we’ll have to wait and see what happens."
