The transfer window might have closed 10 days ago, but the rumo(u)r mill is always spinning.
Despite previous rumor mongering from the rarely reliable Mirror linking Borussia Mochengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka to an Anfield move, that move seems increasingly unlikely.
In an interview with the German newspaper Bild (who were no doubt reluctant about taking time off from publishing photos of naked women) the 23-year-old is openly angling for a move to play for the sky blue half of Manchester.
"Logically, it is hard to say no when Manchester City wants you and you can play there," Xhaka said. "I will openly admit that, and that surely does not only apply to me."
Obviously Manchester City have a few advantages over Liverpool at the moment. When Xhaka says "logic" there are a few things he could mean. Money. Champions League. Money. Money. And in the summer they'll be adding Pep Guardiola to their ranks. Also, money.
At this juncture, it looks like City will be able to bring Xhaka to the Etihad if they want him. That said, this is still all wild speculation, and a lot can change between now and the next transfer window.
