Fiorentina midfielder Matias Vecino almost certainly isn’t on Liverpool’s shopping list. The 25-year-old central midfielder from Uruguay is struggling to nail down a starting gig with the Serie A side, and has only one assist and no goals to his name in the 2016/17 campaign.
However, that doesn’t stop the rumor mongers. In an interview with Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, he explained how he always dreamed of playing in England and with Liverpool in particular.
“My dream has always been to play in England, but I don’t know whether I will be here until I am 30 or 35,” Vecino explained. “I always liked Liverpool and I would like to follow [Marcos] Alonso and many other team-mates of my national team.”
“It doesn’t mean I will be going to England tomorrow.”
Or ever. Sorry not sorry.
As long as the media are floating the names of people who dream of playing for Liverpool, I’d like to throw my name into the mix. Still, Vecino would very much like to play for Liverpool, and barring that occurrence, some other Premier League club, please and thank you.
