Liverpool tried—and failed—to sign then-17-year-old American international Christian Pulisic for an already eye-watering fee of £11.5 million this summer. As the January transfer window approaches and Liverpool look to bolster their attack, particularly with the upcoming departure of Sadio Mané to the African Cup of Nations and Philippe Countinho picking up a nasty knock, rumors have been swirling that the Reds are going to dip their toes back into the transfer market for another attacking player.
Christain Pulisic, now a fully grown 18-year-old man, apparently tops Liverpool’s Christmas wish list. Some reports suggest that Liverpool would be willing to more than double their original offer, possibly as much as £25 million for the exciting young talent.
While Liverpool might be keen to make this transfer come to fruition, Dortmund’s sporting Director Michael Zorc thinks they are wasting their time.
“It’s not worth the effort for Liverpool” Zorc bluntly told German newspaper Bild.
That’s some cold German efficiency right there.
Now, as clear as that sentence is, it will likely do very little to stop the transfer rumor mill surrounding the Hershey, Pennsylvania native. Still, perhaps Liverpool should look at transfer plans B and C going forward.
