Tiago Ilori has become a new deadline day star. The 22-year-old was strongly linked with a loan move to Sunderland but, having rejected that deal, is now a target of Tim Sherwood's Aston Villa. Journalists with close ties to the Liverpool have broken news of a possible season-long loan for a defender who needs to play at this stage of his development.
It is heartening to know that Ilori appears to be considering moves to other clubs in the Premier League. Loans to clubs in La Liga and Ligue 1 are all well and good for getting a bit of playing time, but if Ilori is to ever play for Liverpool in the future, it would seem wise to develop his game within the confines of the most financially bloated league in the world if that's an option.
Aston VIlla have inquired about Tiago Ilori at #LFC. Defender considering it after rejecting loan move to Sunderland this morning.

This would be an interesting move for the Portuguese-Nigerian youngster who would play for a manager who enjoys working with young players. Tim Sherwood may not be as good as he thinks he is, but his fiery approach might just make him the right manager for Tiago Ilori right now. A deal still needs to be agreed, of course, but options as well as time appear to be running out for a player with potential that still needs to be realised.
