After impressing as a trialist during Sunday’s match, it’s hardly a surprise to learn today that Liverpool reserve goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux has joined Swindon Town on a season-long loan. He is joined by Kevin Stewart and Jordan Williams, who both also played as trialists on Sunday, at the League One club.
The 19-year-old Williams has played in midfield and defence at the youth levels for Liverpool and should be a rotation option for Mark Cooper’s side, while 21-year-olds Stewart and Vigouroux will be expected to become regular starters. Both impressed at times last season for Liverpool’s reserves side, but neither was set for first team football this year.
Both also arrived last summer when academy director Alex Inglethorpe, who had overseen their development during his time at Tottenham and saw an opportunity when Spurs chose not to renew either’s contract in the summer of 2014. The hope will be that first team football for both could see the duo take a leap forward this year.
Vigouroux has also impressed with Chile’s U20 side, and there remains some hope that given the slower pace goalkeepers develop at he could have a future at Anfield. In other youth loanee news, defender Lloyd Jones has officially extended his emergency loan at Blackpool and will now spend the season with them.
