Liverpool have officially announced that winger Lazar Markovic will join Fenerbahce on a season-long loan deal, confirming reports from last week that indicated that he was likely to play elsewhere this season. Markovic, who is still just 21, struggled to find consistent playing time last season under Brendan Rodgers and will look to get his promising career back on track in Turkey.

Hopefully this is not the beginning of the end of Markovic's career at Anfield because he still has a chance to be incredibly good. Even during last season, which was rough by his standards, he flashed his brilliance with a few standout performances including a man of the match worthy effort against Sunderland last January.
Perhaps the most exciting thing about Markovic is his ability to make pacey, intelligent vertical runs behind a defense. Liverpool could have used that this season, but if a loan move helps him develop the other parts of his game then this maneuver might not be the worst thing after all.
