Though Liverpool have been linked to PSG left back Lucas Digne regularly in recent weeks, there remains uncertainty over whether there’s real weight to the stories or if it is little more than the usual background noise of transfer season.
According to agent Mikkel Beck, though, the player is available and talks are ongoing at the club level. Also, though he won’t name names, it would appear that there is more than one potential suitor for the 22-year-old left back who has gotten lost at PSG.
"I cannot comment on any clubs by name, but there is interest from several of the greats," Beck told Denmark’s Ekstra Bladet, who spoke to Digne’s agent this week. "We will have to see if something eventually comes of it, but that is what is being worked on."
Digne has also been linked to Roma, and unless there are other historically significant clubs lurking, it seems fair to assume they and Liverpool are the sides Beck is referring to. Reds fans hoping for a done deal, though, may want to dial back their expectations.
"They have not given me permission to talk to Liverpool," said Beck when asked about reports the player had been given permission by PSG to discuss personal terms and, if an agreement on them could be reached, would then decide on his future in the coming weeks.
"Lucas is not 100% satisfied with the situation in Paris though we have indicated he is willing to stay. It’s not certain he will move on, because there are many things that need to be decided by the club, but there is work to be done and we will see where it will end."
The sum of which is that Digne appears to be available, though neither PSG nor the player are determined that he move on—it’s more that all are open to the possibility. Talks may not be at the advanced stage some reports have claimed, but it’s clear there are talks.
Between PSG and, probably, Liverpool and at least one other big club. Reds fans hopeful of landing Digne will have to content themselves with that for now.
