Liverpool have already signed two out-of-contract players in James Milner and Danny Ings and are set to sign a third in the form of Adam Bogdan. The Bolton Wanderers goalkeeper will end his eight-year association with the club to join Liverpool officially on a free transfer on 1 July.

When news first broke that Liverpool were looking at Adam Bogdan as a potential addition to the squad, many fans were surprised as it was previously thought that a player to challenge Simon Mignolet would be a priority this summer. The Hungarian international wouldn't strike many as a player who can challenge the Belgian number two for a spot in a way that Brad Jones was unable to. The likeable Australian was released on Wednesday along with Steven Gerrard and Glen Johnson at the end of their contracts, creating a goalkeeping vacancy in the first-team squad. It seems that this will be addressed this week before moving onto focusing on other areas of the squad.

Signing three out-of-contract players in quick succession early on may enable Liverpool to make big signings in other positions, although James Milner is quite a significant addition for a team with no Champions League football to offer next season. Milner's experience at Manchester City means that he won't be moving to a club with enormous expectations for the first time in his career, unlike Bogdan and Ings. The Guardian's Andy Hunter believes that an announcement could arrive this week despite the fact that Bogdan is currently on international duty.

If Liverpool trust Mignolet as undisputed number one and see Bogdan as an upgrade on Jones, is this really a deal to be worried about?
