Following the departure of backup Brad Jones it's clear that Liverpool are in the market for a new goalkeeper. One of the Liverpool's primary targets has been 25-year-old Neto of Fiorentina, who the club scouted extensively and even entered talks with. However, the Echo now reports that Liverpool have ended their pursuit of Neto, as the player is expected to move to Juventus.
The Brazilian shot stopper might not have been the sexiest transfer target for Liverpool, but he's still regarded as a solid goalkeeper who could have pushed Simon Mignolet to be his best. At Juventus he'll have the chance to be the number one goalkeeper for one of Europe's top sides when Gianluigi Buffon decides to retire.
Liverpool have plenty of other goalkeeping targets on their radar, and this miss shouldn't be seen as too big of a deal. What's important is that they're targeting the right type of player and getting an early start in their pursuit of a new backup for Mignolet.
