Liverpool have not been very secretive in their pursuit of a goalkeeper that can replace departing back up Brad Jones and possibly challenge Simon Mignolet for his starting role. 22-year-old Timo Horn, who plays for FC Koln in Germany, might be the player that Liverpool are looking for, according to several news outlets.
The Metro reports that Liverpool have sent scouts to watch Horn ahead of a potential transfer swoop, and the site even draws a comparison between him and national team teammate Manuel Neuer. That parallel is a huge stretch of course, but Horn is nevertheless considered one of the best young goalkeepers in the Bundesliga.
The Daily Mail have reported that Liverpool's scouts are joined by Aston Villa, Arsenal, and Real Madrid, indicating a tense race to secure Horn's services.
There is also the matter of the player's availability given his importance to a Koln team that will be looking to remain in the German top flight next season. But if Liverpool can convince Koln to sell Horn for a reasonable price, he represents an intriguing transfer option for the club.
