According the the player’s agent, Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham, and Manchester City have all made official enquiries about 18-year-old Cagliari midfielder Godfred Donsah. The young Ghanaian, who patterns his game after Michael Essien, is at least a few years from being a regular contributor for any of those sides, though he has shown promise in limited minutes with Cagliari this year.
He arrived for €2.5M last summer from Palermo, where he signed on in 2012 as a youth player, and so far this year the youngster has made nine starts and a further seven appearances off the bench. Despite taking on a largely defensive role, he has scored two goals and added an assist. It’s both a solid appearance record and return given he’s still only 18 years of age, but it seems too early for links to some of the Premier League’s top sides.
"There’s lots of interest in Donsah right now, especially from clubs in the UK," the Mirror quotes Donsah’s agent Oliver Arthur, which leaves it to fans to try and sort out if there’s any truth to it all or if it’s simply another case of an agent talking up his client with an eye to an improved deal with his current club. "Manchester City, Liverpool, Tottenham, and Arsenal have made official enquiries about him."
Donsah, having just signed on with Cagliari as a promising but unproven youth player following his transfer last summer, has a deal running through 2020. He has filled in at right back this season along with regularly playing in midfield and was linked with a move to Stoke City last summer before ending up at Cagliari.
