Arda Turan, now 28 years old, has been linked to Liverpool for years. The linkage has become a tradition at this point, and with the Echo passing on reports from Spain that Liverpool will offer Atletico Madrid £25.6 million for Turan this summer, the practice lives on.
Turan has three goals and six assists in 20 appearances for Atletico Madrid this season, and is well known for his ability as a creative playmaker.
However, there are many factors that make this rumor unlikely. While Turan is a talented player, the attacking midfielder occupies one of Liverpool's most well-stocked positions, and it's hard to see him as necessary addition to a team that features Philippe Coutinho, Adam Lallana and Raheem Sterling amongst others. Furthermore, he's not the young star that years ago drew the interest of Europe's top clubs, so he wouldn't exactly match Liverpool's youth movement. Throw in that preposterous £25.6 million rumored transfer fee, and this seems like a certain no-go.
