Report: Suso Agrees Pre-Contract with AC Milan

While Liverpool were celebrating their FA Cup win over AFC Wimbledon, news out of Italy suggested that Suso's future with Liverpool is in major doubt.

Steven Gerrard isn't the only Liverpool player out of contract at the end of the season, and like his captain before him, it looks like sometimes winger Suso has signed a pre-contract with another club. Reports out of Italy yesterday confirmed that the Spaniard had agreed terms with AC Milan, whom he would join on a free at the end of the season unless Brendan Rodgers agrees to part ways this month.

The news follows reports from September that indicated the player was likely to move on from Liverpool, even though the Suso and his manager denied this and stated that the player wanted to stay at his current club. The rumoured loan deal with AC Milan never materialized, and Suso has spent the season exiled from Brendan Rodgers' team sheet or on long-term injury layoff.

But the Spaniard is returning from injury at the same time that Adam Lallana is due to spend a month on the sidelines having sustained a thigh injury, and if there was ever a time for Suso to step up and prove his quality, now would be it. Suso was left out of the squad versus Wimbledon having played in an U21 match the day before to gain fitness, but if the reports are correct, it's unlikely he'll be anywhere near Rodgers' matchday squad on Saturday versus Sunderland.

It's an anticlimactic end for a player for whom many held high hopes, but having been skirting the fringes of the first team for what seems like years, Suso seems to have failed to impress his manager sufficiently enough stake a claim on the bench let alone a place in the starting line-up. AC Milan have reportedly offered a four year deal to the young player, and with any luck he'll be able to break into the team in a way he never managed at Liverpool.
