This is the moment Liverpool fans have been dreading ever since rumors of a potential deal came out months ago: Suso is on his way to Italy to take a medical with AC Milan.
The news comes from the Italian club's own official TV station, indicating that the Spanish attacker will spend Sunday and Monday in Milan to take his medical and finalize the needed paperwork. They also indicate that despite reports that en effort would be made to fully sign Suso this month, the deal will take effect at the end of this season when his contract expires.
It's a sad thing to see for Liverpool fans, though not really an unexpected one. Attempts to sign Suso to an extension over the summer and early in the season stalled and, obviously, failed, then rumors of Milan's interest sprung up loudly and often in the early months of the season. Once January came and Suso still hadn't signed a new contract with Liverpool, news of him signing with Milan seemed inevitable.
Despite remaining available for Liverpool for the rest of the season, it's unlikely that we'll see Suso suit up for Liverpool again. That will leave him with just 14 league appearances as a Liverpool player, with another four in Europa League play and three in domestic cups. Suso played just one match this season, coming on as a substitute in Liverpool's League Cup match against Middlesbrough, scoring in extra time to give Liverpool a lead and netting both of his penalties in the epic, 16-round penalty shootout, including the winner.
