It is getting harder and harder to find superlatives to describe the scoring exploits of Mohamed Salah. He just seemingly shows up and finds a way to put the ball in the back of the net with aplomb week in and week out with no drama and little fanfare.
The Egyptian forward reached yet another milestone in his Liverpool career in the wild 3-3 draw against Brentford. A delicious dinked ball over the defense from Fabinho was followed by a trademark cool finish from Salah, making the sublime seem simple yet again for what was the 100th Premier League goal scored by Salah for Liverpool.
Captain Jordan Brian Henderson (that’s his legal full name now) made sure to call out the historic moment in his post-match interview.
“Incredible moment,” said Henderson of Salah’s 100th goal. “He has been incredible ever since he came to the club. He is a fantastic lad, he works ever so hard off the training field, recovers properly, lives his life the right way to be ready every single game to perform every game. He gets his rewards for that, he’s been phenomenal. And hopefully he can just continue to do that for us this season and beyond.”
Salah became the fastest player to reach the century mark in the league for Liverpool, getting to 100 goals in just 151 games. Roger Hunt previously held the records for fastest to the mark in 152 games, followed by Ian Rush in 168 games. Salah is also just the 13th player in Liverpool’s storied history to reach the milestone.
The goal also moved him into the top 10 goal scorers in all competitions, passing Sam Raybould for the spot. If Salah stays hot, he could conceivably catch Harry Chambers by the end of the season.
