Ahead of their third round League Cup tie against Norwich City, Liverpool have confirmed that two of the club’s most promising teenage talents will be handed their full senior debuts for the club with Kaide Gordon and Conor Bradley both set to start.
Speculation the duo would be given the nod began in earnest when both were left out of Sunday’s U23 match against Leeds—though in the case of Gordon, there had been some suggestion as early as the start of the season that he would get the start here.
For the 16-year-old Gordon, it’s confirmation of his highly impressive pre-season with the senior side and the high esteem he’s been held in by the club’s coaching staff since arriving from Derby County for an undisclosed fee at the start of the year,
Meanwhile, 18-year-old Bradley joined Liverpool’s academy in 2019 and also impressed during pre-season, with some speculation he could push fellow youngster Neco Williams hard in the club’s right back pecking order behind Trent Alexander-Arnold.
With Williams working his way back from injury, it’s a chance then for Bradley to show what he can do in a competitive senior match with fans in the stands as part of a much changed side taking on Premier League opposition in the League Cup.
