Klopp Talk: Elliott “Looks Fit” and Can Play All 90 Minutes

And boy, does he play well too.

This weekend’s game was a bit of a mixed bag. On the one hand, there was the absolute madness of the first half. On the other hand, we had to sit through the incredibly frustrating second half. Luckily, Harvey Elliott was there to show us exactly what a stand-out performance through all 90+ minutes looked like. The 18 year-old has been rewarded for his excellent performances with a first team position from Klopp who obviously likes what he sees.

“Good, it was good,” the boss said about Elliott’s performance against Chelsea. “He looked good last week obviously in the game, was good during the training week.”

“We wanted to change a little bit. We wanted to have the dynamic of Hendo in the team, wanted to have Robbo, wanted to have Bobby in between the lines. That all worked out pretty well and then on the right side we didn’t want to change on top of that something.”

“Harvey was from the first day of pre-season with us, pretty much the only midfielder we played so far [who that applies to] apart from Naby and Ox. He looks fit obviously and can just deal with 95 minutes and that’s important for us. It was important today and that is why we started him and that’s why we left him on the pitch.”

Elliott will likely continue to make his mark on Liverpool’s midfield when they take on Leeds on Sunday, September 12.
