With two weeks to go until the start of the 2021-22 Premier League season, Liverpool have most of their players back in training, with the only exceptions being England’s Jordan Henderson and the Brazilian trio of Alisson Becker, Roberto Firmino, and Fabinho Tavares.
As of tomorrow, it will be just Henderson missing after the club announced that Alisson, Firmino, and Fabinho would join up with the team on Sunday as the club’s training camp shifts to Evian in France for a week after three weeks of training and friendlies in Austria.
The trio were involved with Brazil at the Copa America, where the South American giants made it to the final before losing to Argentina on July 10th. Three weeks off afterwards marks an unusually long break for internationals going so deep at a summer tournament.
Liverpool’s focus, though, has been on giving players as much time off as possible this summer following an exhausting 2020-21 season, with pre-season even for their non-internationals starting after other Premier League clubs had been back for a week or two.
If Henderson is to stick to the same schedule as the club’s other internationals, it’s highly possible he will now return to training on Monday, with England’s Euros campaign ending in a shootout loss to Italy the day after Brazil fell to Argentina at the Copa.
