The appearances of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez back at Liverpool FC’s training ground has been one of the most beautiful sights I’ve taken in this year. In the meantime, some other eagle-eyed LFC fans have spotted Virgil van Dijk... in the real of anime.
No way did they add Virgil van Dijk into a football anime he might be goated pic.twitter.com/QrMhpDwVTI— Keion (@KeionTaylor_) May 3, 2021
The anime in question is titled Farewell, My Dear Cramer and it’s about high school women’s football in Japan. The anime premiered last month and is adapted from the manga of the same name that ran from 2016 to 2020. It tells the story of a young female footballer who wants to shape her game around James Milner, because who better to pattern than a multiple-time Premier League champion and the record-holder for most assists in a single Champions League season. The coach of the team in the manga also wears a baseball cap, and instills Gegenpressing, just like one Jürgen Norbert Klopp. (H/T to reddit user melvinlee88 for spotting these Liverpool FC nuggets.)
This has been your reminder that Liverpool FC remains a pretty popular football club.
