A hidden tidbit from a pre-match article from The Times’ Paul Joyce mentions that Liverpool FC are looking to nail down new deals for Alisson Becker, Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho, and Mohamed Salah. To be exact, the wording he used is “discussions on a new contract will take place at some point”.

It’s probably not a coincidence that each player listed in that lists comes from a different position group. As many of the squad players from 2016 (e.g. Gini, Milner) or so continue to age out, the time has come for Michael Edwards and Jürgen Klopp to rebuild and mold the next great Liverpool squad. Looking for continuity in building around these four players, who’ve each achieved great things in their club, makes a lot of sense. All four players are in their late 20s, and a new deal will essentially have them seeing out the rest of their prime years at Liverpool.
