One of very few bright spots over this hard winter for Liverpool Football Club has been the recent reintroduction of Diogo Jota to the team after a long term injury took him out of contention. Jota had been on a hot streak in his first run with the team back at the beginning of the season, and his absence was keenly in a squad that was already threadbare with injuries.

Jota has played in the last three matches, and Liverpool have won two: their Champions League round of 16 match against RB Leipzig and on Monday, they picked up three points against Wolves in the league. It was Jota who scored the one and only goal in the match, which ensured Liverpool the victory.

He struck right on the cusp of halftime, a clean finish that also involved his partners Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

Post-match, the former Wolves player admitted that scoring at Molineux was a special experience.

“Very special,” he said. “I had been here for over three years, working every day with almost everyone in that dressing room. Obviously it was special, I just wish the fans would have been here as well - but anyway, a good result for us and for me.”

For the time being, this victory puts the Reds up to sixth place, a position they’ll hope to improve upon in the 10 games that remain this season. They won’t get the chance to build on their good form until April 4th, when they play away to Arsenal. Hopefully everyone will stay healthy and fit until then.
