Liverpool walked away from Sheffield United today with three points at hand, and that’s not even the best news we have. It’s been a while since we finished a game with zero injuries (well done, Naby!), and the fact that we’re about to see the return of a few more players is the best possible news to end the day with.
Diogo Jota—who was meant to return after successfully recovering from the knee issue that took him out in early December—took ill in his hotel room during the team’s trip to Sheffield and was ruled out for this weekend’s game. Klopp spoke briefly about whether or not he’ll be available for Thursday’s game against Chelsea after Sunday’s match:
“With Diogo, he was with us in the hotel, but he got sick overnight and we had to send him home,” The boss said. “It depends how quick he will recover, obviously. He was in the squad and as I said before, he trained with the team and it all looked really good but unfortunately he got sick overnight. I think he will be available, but I don’t know.”
Both Alisson (who was absent from Sunday’s game after his father’s death last week) and Fabinho (recovering from a muscle injury) will almost definitely be available.
“Alisson and Fabinho, I’m pretty sure [will be available],” Klopp added. “Fabinho trained twice with the team and should be pretty close for the squad, I am sure.”
All in all, a decent end to the week and a lot of promise for the week to come. Hopefully we can keep this momentum going against Chelsea.
