Here’s some good news: Virgil van Dijk has returned to Merseyside from Dubai, marking another milestone as he continues his rehabilitation. Van Dijk updated his Instagram with images of him working out in the brand new swimming pool facility that is a new feature of the club’s swanky new training center.
Van Dijk has spent months in Dubai getting critical treatment for his knee injury, but he’s arrived back in England to continue his rehab in Kirkby with his teammates.
Though I doubt he’s thrilled about returning in the dead of winter, having him back on the training ground should be a boost to the other players who have sorely missed his leadership.
Klopp and the club have yet to put a time frame on when van Dijk will return, though no one wants to rush the healing process of one of the best players on the planet. Right now it seems unlikely that we will see van Dijk return to the pitch this season, but perhaps a few late-season appearances could be in the cards. Either way, the goal is to have him fit and ready for next season, along with his partners Joe Gomez and Joel Matip.
