Mohamed Salah is very good at football. This is not a secret, even if at times it can seem a little as though many pundits and the broader football fanbase might not quite be willing or able to admit to just how good of a football player he is.
Bayern Munich chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, though, is in no doubt about Salah’s talents, calling Liverpool’s Egyptian king a player comparable in both skill and achievement to Barcelona’s Lionel Messi and Juventus’ Cristiano Ronaldo.
“He has all the skills necessary to play for the best teams in the world,” Rummenigge said, as relayed by Kingfut. “What he has achieved can be compared to what Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo did in Barcelona and Madrid, respectively.”
Lest it be seen as the opening move in the attempted capture of the 28-year-old superstar, Rummenigge insisted “at the moment we don’t plan on signing Salah” but it would be “an honour” to have “the Messi of Africa” at the Bundesliga club.
Rummenigge’s quotes have since been widely disseminated but are originally said to have come from Egypt broadcaster ON Time Sports, which might at least hint at why the Bayern chief would have been asked to say nice things about Salah.
