Liverpool lost again, so there’s that. It was against Man Utd, so there’s that. We’re out of the FA Cup, but no one’s losing sleep over that one.
It was a bit of an odd performance, providing a lot of the attacking zip that’s been missing, particularly through Mohamed Salah, but full of sloppy mistakes at the back. Liverpool opened themselves up a bit more, with both the good and the bad that comes from this.
Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp saw both the good and the bad in the game.
“There was a lot of good things and some mistakes around the goals”, Klopp told BBC Sport. “If you want to win here you have to be absolutely top and we were not.
“For the first goal we had no protection, we wanted it too much. Things like this should not happen but they can happen. We had too many platers in a receiving position.
“We can take things out of this game, we try to learn from every game. It’s good for Mo Salah, good for the confidence. It was a tough game. We want it hard but tonight it was not enough.
“If you win a game there are negatives, if you lose a game too but I saw the boys really, really wanted it. We had problems on the counter-attack, it was intense, but there were positives.”
Look, I can’t say Liverpool are doing well right now, and nor can you. Klopp sees good and bad, and that’s what we all need to do. We go again.
