Having scored just once in their past four league games, Liverpool need goals. Having seen Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez felled by season-ending injuries while Joël Matip continues to struggle with fitness, Liverpool need defenders.
What if they could answer both of those needs with one fell swoop of a signing: bringing ex-Red loanee Steven Caulker back?
Realistically, perhaps, it’s not an option, but the 29-year-old who spent half a season at Anfield under Jürgen Klopp and filled in on a handful occasions as a hopeful late goal threat off the bench has certainly noticed his old club’s current struggles.
The centre half, who currently plies his trade for Alanyaspor in the Turkish Super Lig, took to Twitter today to share a picture of him scoring a goal in training—while name-dropping his former manager and jokingly noting “Klopp knew what I was about.”

Caulker has made 20 appearances for Alanyaspor so far this season, with the club currently sat sixth in Turkey, three points off fourth-place Galatasaray and a Europa Legue berth.
