Although fans were not able to be on hand for any of the title celebrations, Liverpool have done well to make this momentous season still feel special. Yesterday’s announcement was no exception.
In a surprise—and thoughtful!—move the club decided to send the Premier League trophy, freshly adorned with red ribbons and a Liverpool engraving, around to local hospitals as a thank you for NHS staff around the city. The staff will be able to see and take photos with the trophy.
“We are really looking forward to taking the Premier League trophy on a mini-tour into our local hospitals to share our success with all the hard-working NHS staff, who are our heroes,” the Red Neighbours manager, Forbes Duff, said.
“We are so grateful for all the key workers who have shown such strength, determination and courage throughout the coronavirus pandemic. We hope that our visits will add a little fun to their day and demonstrate our sincere thanks.”
Additionally, the staff will get lanyards reading “We Are Liverpool. You Are Our Champions.”
It’s a small but meaningful gesture that will hopefully help the morale at hospitals during the COVID-19 pandemic.
