The Premier League is coming back. In less than a week Arsenal will be taking on Manchester City, and in ten days Liverpool will be headed to Goodison Park for a Merseyside Derby. Title implications aside, it’s just exciting that football—including our favorite football team—will be returning.
Arsenal made headlines yesterday by losing to Brentford in a behind closed doors friendly. It was funny, to be fair. It is also another indication for Liverpool fans—on top of the already ridiculously large body of evidence—to never expect a favor from North London.
Today, Jurgen Klopp’s Reds look to avoid a similar fate against Blackburn Rovers. The details of when and where are being kept under wraps “for safety.” Blackburn currently sit 10th in The Championship, just three points off the playoff spots (if the Championship also resumes their season). It should be a good test for Liverpool as they rebuild their match fitness.
Hopefully we’ll get to hear all about Mohamed Salah’s hat trick and Kloppo getting sent to the stands after abusing the fourth official in this friendly.
Whatever the outcome, it’s another positive step in the right direction toward getting the Premier League back.
