Liverpool to Resume Team Training Next Week

The club are reportedly preparing to start training as a group again. Sort of.

Having spent the past ten days in self-isolation following individual training plans to keep fit, Liverpool’s players are set to begin working as a group again. But they won’t be doing it as a group together in one place.

That’s the word today from The Star, who say that next week the players will begin training as a group under the watch of Jürgen Klopp and the coaching staff but that it will all take place remotely over video.

While hardly a step towards football returning, doing what they can to keep the squad working together in some form and in live, direct contact with the coaching staff as a group, seems like a worthwhile goal.

As yet, there remains no timeline for when—or, logistically, how—teams will begin to train again together in person ahead of whenever the Premier League does return, which would take place in May at the earliest.

The goal remains for football to resume once coronavirus has peaked but before it is fully contained, which will mean games behind closed doors and likely players and staff maintaining some level of isolation.
