Wednesday, April 15th, marks the 31st anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster, and after three years the memorial service will again be held at Anfield to remember the victims and honour those who have fought for justice and their memories for three decades.

It will also be the final memorial service to be held at Anfield, with Hillsborough Family Support Group chair Margaret Aspinall speaking on behalf of the families about the decision following the club’s announcement of ticketing details for next month’s service.

“The 31st anniversary Hillsborough memorial service will be the last service ever to be held at Anfield stadium, said Aspinall, who has led the fight for justice for thirty years now. She added it was a “decision made by the families after much consideration.”

The service is scheduled to begin at 2:45PM local time, and a minute’s silence will then be observed at 3:06PM. The club have requested that those who will be able to attend the mid-week service obtain their tickets for it no later than Tuesday, March 31st.

“Our group is going to be disbanded this year and we want to say thank you to everyone involved,” she added. “Going forward, the families of the 96 will continue to remember their loved ones each and every day as well as in their own way on the anniversary.”
