Klopp Talk: Unbeaten Record Doesn’t Matter

New, comment

There’s no doubt about what’s really important.

Liverpool have taken 100 points from the last 102 available.

Liverpool have the biggest lead at the summit of the table in English top flight history.

Liverpool can equal the longest unbeaten run in English football against Manchester City in April.

But Jürgen Klopp doesn’t care about any of that.

“We don’t look at that number, that’s true. The game we lost [prior to the unbeaten] period was at Manchester City,” FourFourTwo report the Liverpool boss as saying.

“We could say we lost it because of 11 millimetres [that Sadio Mané was away from scoring in that game] or whatever.

“It was a really tight game, so imagine if we would have drawn that day and then I don’t know what the number would be then of how many games we didn’t lose or whatever.

“I promise you I don’t lie: we don’t feel it. We just don’t feel it. It doesn’t feel a second like it’s really special, it just feels the hardest work.

“That’s why I am so happy the boys can go now for a week somewhere else, do what they have to do to come back recharged, refreshed. Then we prepare for Norwich and the rest of the season.

“That’s the only thing I know and all the rest we have to see. So many things can happen in football.

“We have to use the skills of the boys, we have to use the character of the boys, we have to use the power of this club and especially of this stadium. It is our duty to win football games and that’s what we’ve tried now for a while.”

We’re all celebrating and loving this. The only people who can’t enjoy it are Klopp and his players. Take us home, guys. Concentrate on the prize.
