Last week, Naby Keïta and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain returned to action. This week, three more injured Liverpool players took a big step closer to joining them in match action with Thiago Alcantara, James Milner, and Xherdan Shaqiri all training.

The trio were pictured taking part in full team training today at Kirkby, and as a result it is likely all three will be available for selection as the Reds return to action following Christmas when they face off against West Bromwich Albion on December 27th.

While Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez are not expected to have a major—or perhaps any—role to play this season due to their injuries, by the weekend the only short-term absence Jürgen Klopp may have left to worry about is free-scoring forward Diogo Jota.

After a rare extended break, with a full eight days off for the Reds after their dominant victory over Crystal Palace last Saturday, it’s back to two matches a week as Liverpool face West Brom, Newcastle, Southampton, and Aston Villa in quick succession.
