Jürgen Klopp Hails “Super Football Game” in Premier League Draw with Manchester City

Both sides had their good spells, but a draw ultimately felt like a fair result for Liverpool against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

Liverpool dominated the early phase of the game, while City came on strong late. It wasn’t a game of huge end to end action, and it’s hard to feel anyone was hard done by. Jürgen Klopp was broadly happy.

“Super football game to be honest”, the Liverpool manager told Sky Sports, as reported by BBC Sport. “Two top teams ready for a massive fight - energy levels of both teams incredible. You could see after 10-15 mins everybody breathing (uh huhhh!). I’m really happy - City’s lowest number of chances against us

“Top, top start. We had counter attacking moments. So many. We obviously didn’t finish it off which is a shame.

“To change a system to play City... the boys are ready to listen, adapt and perform. In a lot of moments we could have created bigger chances.

“We were really good and dangerous. We were ready to make little passes - there were moments we played too many long balls. Time to time we just wanted to get rid of the ball.

“Footballing-wise lots of good moments. Robbo could go 95 mins - energy level was incredible.”

”I haven’t seen [the penalty Liverpool conceded] yet. Joe said, “I cant do anything”.”

A draw at City is a good point. It’s going to be a long, hard season and the most important thing was avoiding defeat here. Liverpool still have the points edge but there’s a lot of football to be played.
