Liverpool’s long roster of injuries seems to be gradually shortening, with captain Jordan Henderson now potentially set for a return to the pitch.
Henderson picked up a groin injury picked up during the international break with the England national team. As a result, he missed the games against Leicester City and Atalanta, the former of which was a comfortable win but the latter was an awkward 2-0 loss for the team.
He was seen to join full training yesterday, announcing his return on social media much to the delight of fans.
This was confirmed by coach Jurgen Klopp in his press conference today, ahead of Saturday’s game against Brighton. Klopp said, ““Hendo trained yesterday, parts of team training and then an individual session. Other players are still in recovery. We will make late decisions. I couldn’t tell you the line up as I have to wait for the medical department to tell me who looks ready.”
The skipper’s return is a definite boost to the team. Following the Atalanta loss, vice-captain James Milner said that the team needs to get over the defeat quickly, and Henderson’s presence will boost morale whether or not he is match-fit to play against Brighton tomorrow.
