Diogo Jota Can “Get Much Better” According to Klopp

But the future is bright for the young Portuguese star.

In just a handful of appearances in a Liverpool shirt, Diogo Jota, the 23-year old forward has already won our hearts and made an impact - most recently making his way into the starting lineup for yesterday’s game against Sheffield United in the Premier League. He scored the winning goal heading in a neat cross from Sadio Mane on the left flank, securing a 2-1 result for Liverpool.

He is deserving of all the praise no doubt, especially given the circumstances - making your way into a lineup with the best “front three” in the world, and leaving your mark is a remarkable feat, especially when it’s done this early in his stint within Jurgen Klopp’s system.

Klopp however believes that he still has some way to go before he is fully adapted, Goal.com reports.

“Yes, Diogo scored a super goal and was really involved in the game. He can be much better, 100 percent, and that’s good news. He is still adapting. In the moment, a lot of things we do are not natural to him, but that’s only because Wolves play different - but a lot of things that he did for Wolves, are exactly what we want him to do.”

“Yes, that he is that close already is just a sign how good a player he is. As I said, if he stays fit, he’s 23 and the future is bright, let me say it like this. We will need this quality and I am really happy that he settled nicely so far.”

“He is quick, he has the physicality, is strong, good in the air, good on the ground. Those are the qualities we need”, he added.

This shows not only a remarkable faith in Jota’s further capabilities from Klopp, but also a desire to continue to invest in his growth and help him cement his role in the first-team.
