Liverpool have yet another feather in their excellent-season-cap after this weekend’s victory against Everton in the third round of the FA Cup. And while for the most part the victory was a sweet, sweet, sweet one (next round! A great performance from the kids! Minamino’s debut!), we naturally had to have at least one terrible thing happen: Milner had to walk off in the first few minutes of the game with a muscle strain. He was replaced by Yasser Larouci, who was making his first team debut.
But now that the adrenaline rush of the victory is behind us and we’re done congratulating the children for their success, all eyes turn to the club’s medical team and what they think the issue might be, and just how serious it is.
Jürgen Klopp said in his post-match press conference: “Two players started the last game and one of them got injured, so that’s the situation we are in. That’s why a lot of managers make a lot of changes; it’s nothing to do with the cup, it’s the timing.
“[Milner] has pain, that says it’s serious. It’s [his] muscle.”
We’ll hopefully have more information on Milner and how long he’s likely to be sidelined for in the next few days.
