Klopp’s injury list is also fairly short. Sadio Mané is still in recovery with a muscle tear but it’s nothing serious.
James Milner is unavailable but is expected to be available soonish. And the manager claims Xherdan Shaqiri is similarly close to joining the team.
“They are close,” said Klopp. “Not for this game but then afterwards, hopefully.”
Klopp went on to relieve any doubts about the reason behind Divock Origi’s substitution in the second half at West Ham. The manager revealed that Origi was supposedly just dealing with a cramp but at the time he was unable to say anything definitively.
By Friday, Klopp stated officially that Origi’s situation was all fine. And added that Adam Lallana was back in training after sitting out for a brief spell.
“Adam trained normal,” Klopp said. “Divock had a cramp. I heard nothing else so he should be in training today.”
Liverpool weathered a storm of injuries through the holiday season. With the Champions League starting back up soon it will be a boon to Klopp having a full strength squad to pull from.
