Klopp Talk: It Was the Minimum They Deserved

Weird game. Odd game.

So that’s what it feels like to not win, huh. I had forgotten.

Liverpool looked to have this one in the bag, 2-0 up and cruising. Then suddenly, the side seemed to stop playing, and Shrewsbury hit back with two goals and levelled things. I don’t know exactly how this happened, but something seemed to just switch off mentally in the side. Anyway, a replay awaits, and from the sounds of it, expect a reserve side without Jürgen Klopp at the helm. Here’s what he had to say about this match.

”It’s difficult to win the game”, Klopp told BBC Sport afterwards. “We don’t have enough time to say all the things which weren’t right today.

”We scored a really good goal but apart from that, Adrian had absolutely too much to do. He was brilliant. The counter-attacks they had when we lost the ball...

”They slowed the game down in their formation and we lost the ball in the wrong moments. It just didn’t look like it was 2-0 [to Liverpool] on the pitch. It looked like we were 2-1 down.

”But well deserved for Shrewsbury, it was the minimum they deserved. Congratulations to them.”

Look, Liverpool just weren’t good today. Call it whatever you want, they just were not at it. Let’s assume it was just a weird one off and all will return to normal shortly.
