It was a difficult night at Molineux, just as everyone predicted. Liverpool got into a big battle with Wolverhampton and Nuno Espírito Santo’s team played hard until the final whistle.
Wolves are a strong attacking side and put a massive amount of talent and pace on show against the Reds. The Wanderers’ top danger man, Adama Traoré, was especially threatening. The Spanish forward sent Liverpool’s midfield and defense scrambling at times. It was Traoré’s first-time cross into the box to Raúl Jiménez that drew Wolves level.
After the match which ended in a 2-1 victory for Liverpool, Traoré took the opportunity to applaud Jürgen Klopp’s side.
“We don’t forget they are a great team, an amazing team and one of the best - or the best in Europe” Traoré said.
”Congratulations to them, how they are going in the league but we fight. We will fight to the end.”
Klopp was similarly complimentary of Traoré’s work out on the Molineux pitch. The Liverpool manager is clearly a big fan of the player.
“He is unplayable in moments, it’s unbelievable,” said Klopp.
“What a player. It’s not only him but he’s so good.”
Liverpool’s win over Wolves sees the Reds 16 points clear at the top of the Premier League table. The club’s game in hand will finally commence on Wednesday. If Liverpool do beat West Ham they would go 19 points ahead of Manchester City in second place. 19 points, that would be something. Is it possible? Yes.
