Yesterday, reports out of Melwood had Fabinho, Joël Matip, and Dejan Lovren all close to a return to full training and potentially able to face Manchester United on Sunday. Today, the news for Jürgen Klopp and the fans got even better.
Fabinho and Matip, as well as injured attacking midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri, all took part in full training with their teammates, with the session reportedly intense. With four days to go until kickoff, it means all should be fit for selection.
News wasn’t quite so positive for Dejan Lovren, who trained on his own in a lower-paced session that reflects the fact that the centre half appears slightly further away than the other three from being fully and completely match fit.
Meanwhile, while they weren’t involved in any way, James Milner and Naby Keïta are both said to be on track to start training again next week, which could set up a return for those two following Liverpool’s FA Cup match on the 26th.
That game, against League One’s Shrewsbury Town on the road and expected to feature a side made up largely of youth and reserve players, will be followed by the re-scheduled match against West Ham and then Southampton.
