Klopp Talk: We Go for the Biggest Prize

We’ve established that this Liverpool team are one of the best we’ve ever seen, right? If there was any doubt left, the last few months of back-to-back fixtures and the team’s performances have surely allayed them. After this weekend’s victory against Tottenham, it’s pretty apparent that the pace that Liverpool has set is one that all other teams are struggling to keep up with. According the boss, that’s exactly what he’s been trying to do.

“That’s our job,” said Klopp after the Spurs match. “We go for the biggest prize. If we can get that by playing here a little bit of football and there a little bit of football that would not be interesting for me. You have to give your all and that’s what we do.

“I said to the boys that they looked a little bit too exhausted in this game, but we are humans and humans are weak. But later we are sat in the dressing room and everybody was still alive and still breathing, so there is still more to come and that is what we have to ask of ourselves.”

It’s unsurprising that the players look exhausted after the December and January they’ve had, but the end—and the trophy—are in sight. Hopefully we can hold on for a bit longer, avoid injuries, and keep our eyes fixed on the biggest prize.
